Designed by Javier Arana, Rio Real Golf Course is considered to be one of the most spectacular in the area. Spreading over a beautiful valley, the course is set in splendid surroundings on gently undulating terrain, softly sloping toward the Mediterranean.

The course is not an easy one, although the layout is mainly flat. To successfully negotiate the eleventh hole, for example, golfers tee shots must cross a ravine onto the fairway, and before reaching the green, there is also a stream to cross.

In general the greens are quite flat, very well maintained and protected by the surrounding bunkers. The 4th is especially worth mentioning due to its outstanding beauty, and its fairway which runs down towards the beach.

The 10th, a dogleg right, leads out onto the spectacular tee of the 11th, where you have a great view down onto the green that is situated on the other side of the river.

In the past year the club has benefited from several major improvements, namely replanted fairways, new greens, enlargement of cart paths and refurbishment of the clubhouse and its facilities.

Rio Real is one of the top 3 courses in the Costa del Sol, and in 2002 it was considered the most improved course of the year.

Rio Real also offers a driving range, putting green, private golf lessons, bar and restaurant and a well stocked pro shop.
