El Saler Golf club in Spain has just been voted the 2nd Best golf course in Europe, by Golf World, and is host to a number of Spanish opens. This is a 'must' for the golf enthusiast.

Twelve holes of the El Saler golf course meander through pine groves, and then six holes are laid out links style through the dunes, along the coastline with punishing rough. A truly excellent course.

Located less than 20km from Valencia, bordering the sea flanked by the Mediterranean pine forests of Albufera lagoon, the El Saler golf course has become a major reference point for demanding golfers on the international circuit.

Although the fairways at El Saler are ample with very few off limits, the presence of bunkers throughout the course reduces room for error at every turn. The second hole is flanked by two bunkers left and right of the drive, and is a most evident example.

The star of this golf course is hole 6. A par 4 at 404m. It is undoubtedly the most difficult on the entire course, doglegging to the left, and requiring a precise but powerful swing to get to the green in two. The fairway ensures that even a good tee-off may run into trouble if great care is not taken.

To leave El Saler victoriously, you have to keep your wits about you at all times. It has major difficulties, and the length of the course calls for patience and skill. Any mistakes at the tougher holes may make it impossible to get back on track.
